So, you know when you take a bad spill on your bicycle, how you’re supposed to just dust yourself off and hop back on and pedal your ass off like nothing ever happened, except just as you’re about to straddle your Schwinn it seems to grow yellow teeth and gnarled claws and tries to eat you alive right there on the street so that every time you even think about going on a bike ride you break out in hives and end up instead planted in front of your computer obsessing over your Facebook friend count or playing Bejeweled Blitz for like seventeen hours straight because you really want to break 100,000?
You do know I’m talking about blogging, right?
I keep wanting to write, I keep thinking about writing, but I opt out every time.
It’s not like I’ve been filling my former blogging time with anything particularly productive. I guess you could say I’ve been embracing my inner slacker. Anyone want to join me in making PJs a round the clock fashion statement?
Along with my brain gradually deteriorating in to a semi-gelatinous state, my rear end has been doing the same. My pants are becoming uncomfortably snug of late. I blame the large batches of sugar cookies I’ve been baking as well as my lack of activity, which I in turn blame on the unbearable heat and our lack of disposable income which I immediately blame on global warming and the economy respectively.
It’s as good an excuse as any.
I could blame the kids, but that’s a given. I mean they do routinely sap the life from me.
My point is, I miss the outlet. I miss the exchanges. I miss the sound of my own voice.
I miss the blogosphere and my comment candy and all the delicious bloggy comedy I’m missing out on by not reading your blogs.
It’s true what they say, absence does make the heart grow fonder.
Thanks to all of you for your sage blogging advice. I’m certain summer is taking its toll on my creativity and my motivation, but slowly I’m crawling out of my slump.
Don’t know if I’ll be hopping on any man-eating bicycles though.

Oh, it’s YOU. Hiya bloggy BFF, welcome back. I’m glad you’re deslumping and I’m glad I’m here to witness it. I will do my best to provide you with as much comment candy as I can.
It’s me. Just noticed that you’re back around and thought I’d say hello.
What’s this I hear about sugar cookies? Fer real? Where’s mine?
You rode a Schwinn? At least their banana seats are comfy for when you finally climb back up.
Ok, my kid is no longer distracted by the TV, gotta go. Welcome back.
Take it from me (someone who actually DID fall off her bike and then did NOT get back on, at least not since the cast came off)((Dude, I LIKE MY APPENDAGES)): Computers are waaaaaaay safer.
Good luck!
OMG! You’re back! I was starting to get Mrs. Bear withdrawals. It’s been terrible. Oh and FYI my Bejeweled Blitz score is over 100,000. Just saying. My children routinely suck the life out of me but for some reason I love them anyway. Welcome back!
you’re back! blogging is way better than eating cookies. okay, it’s not better at all, but you know, we miss you and stuff.
I have missed you!!!
I am so glad you are back! You always make me laugh! You have been missed…but, you really shouldn’t post about sugar cookies for my waistline’s sake. It is onlly 8:30 AM and all I can think about are sugar cookies. Maybe reading your blog isn’t good for my food choices, but I will risk it! Reading your blog that is…
Clear! THWUMP!
We have a heartbeat!
(Welcome back, girl.)
What? Round the clock PJ’s aren’t considered a normal fashion statement? *gasp!*
I’ve MISSED you! I was just thinking yesterday, when I should have been sleeping actually…”I miss Mrs. Bear.” No. Really. I was. I know. Sad, no? It wasn’t like I thought about it for a long time or stressed all out about it, but I did think, “I miss Mrs. Bear” and then I sighed, rolled over and went back to bed, because you know…life goes on.
That story above is totally true, I hope you know. No one could make up a story that tragic and …um…pathetic.
And I am serious…I’ve missed you. I hope to see you around the blogs soon!
Holy matrimony, Casey just molested your blog. I was planning on doing it but she takes the cake.Ooh…now I want cake.
Okay, I gotta head down to your place for an intervention (hidden meaning – I want sugar cookies!)…but yeah, glad to see you at least putting the training wheels back on…I guess the “spark” worked? or am I too early in assuming that seeing as its not 5pm yet and work isn’t over for the day.
Oh and PJ’s are totally the all day fashion. Should have seen me in mine this weekend. Yeap, I even walked the dog all the way to the other side of the neighborhood in my pink top with pink pants with black horsies on them. Yeap – now that is stylin’!!!
And yeah, Casey totally hovered on your comments but that is Casey and we love her for it!!!
I’ve just come back to blogging too, so I can relate. I just couldn’t not blog anymore, I was dying from the lack of release. It’s good to hear from you! 24/7 PJs? OH yeah!
So happy to see you hear. I have been stopping by to check (since I still can’t figure out how to subscribe) and have missed you terribly. You mean PJs aren’t already a fashion statement? What have I been trying to say all this time?
We know you’ll be back. Whenever you’re ready.
It seems there are fewer folks reading in the summer, too, so it’s okay.
Just popped over from Casey’s place, since she did you a solid and sent us all ove.r (: I’m climbing out of the same doldrums-slump thing, and can relate to every word. I think we should start a support group for blogging-slackers.
Just got home from Gymbo, swim class and Fridays. Got the kids in bed and now I’m headed to the gym and then back to Fridays for dessert. Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww yeah, bookending the evening with Fridays. It’s good to be me.
And I did say I was going to the gym first so the dinner and dessert out is totally canceled out by my workout. If I get off my ass and go.
I’m going, I’m going. HC later, bloggy bff.
Stop reading your comments and shred or something. Or make me cookies. My friend Aimee is making me a chicken pot pie, the pressure is on for you to do some good.
So earlier today I tried to do some catching up over here and the comments are closed for the previous posts I missed whilst melting in the extreme heat during our vacation…so I get over to Casey’s RTT post for today, and she’s sending the posse for ya…so I came back to see what I missed (again) and think I whizzed right on past this post at the top because I was going to start from where I left off before and work my way up, but couldn’t…(grin!!)
You know I simply adore you, right? I consider you, blueviolet, Julie, Casey and several others my bloggy BFF’s because you always inspire me to keep chugging along even when I start to lose my blogging mojo…which, as of late, seems to happen more often than not. Seriously. You’re not alone. I think it started with Spring Fever, and now that Summertime is here full time, people tend to pry themselves away from their computers more and actually do stuff not electronically attached…well, mostly anyway.
You are thought of often, even if I don’t get over here every single day…
And when I do get over here, I stick around for a while and make sure I catch up on any posts I might have missed…’cuz that’s how I roll.
OK, now that I’ve taken way too much time and space to write this long-winded and nonsensical comment, I notice that Casey has snuck in and left several more…so should I break this into several? Nah, I’ll just follow her lead and leave a few more…(snicker!)
Wait – I forgot to pick up my sugar cookies…can you pass ‘em over, please?
Seriously, you really shouldn’t be taunting me with sugar cookies when I’m trying to shed some poundage… What about pound cake? Does pound cake counter-affect the pounds or just compound ‘em?
I think you’d be fine to hop on a man-eating bike, though, because it wouldn’t eat you…or are you secretly a man?
If it makes you feel any better, while your brain is gradually deteriorating in to a semi-gelatinous state, mine has already become gelatinous. Wait, what was I saying again?
Wine goes good with sugar cookies, doesn’t it? You bring the sugar cookies, I’ll bring the wine.
Um, sugar cookies? I’ll be sending you my address so you can send me some, k?
So glad you’re back!! Sometimes we need to step away from things and just take a break!! You’ve been missed!!
Something something something sugar cookies something something something. Huh?
Sometimes you just need to step back, leave your head in neutral for awhile. Otherwise you end up using cookie cutters on grilled cheese sandwiches and creating movie scenes out of them and… wait, never mind.
I’m totally with you on the pajamas!!
Good luck getting your bloggy groove back.
Casey sent me. I think it’s the weather, it’s the reason I can’t seem to get all my thoughts moving along
I could have written your post, just about word for word. I, too, have been filling my former blogging time with Facebook. Seems it’s much easier to do a few jobs in Mafia Wars and then mindlessly play Bejeweled Blitz then it is to write and/or read blog posts. I slowly, slinking back in to the blogosphere myself. Hopefully I can keep it up through this move…I need the outlet, I think!
I came over because somebody said something about cookies?
Hey! I’ve missed you! So glad that you’re back, baby! I know how easy it is to get all distracted my summer and kids and cookies, but hey, you’ve got peeps out here waiting to hang on your every word! Just sayin’.
Oh! Also, I made bars yesterday:
Poured a stick of melted butter into a 9 by 13 pan, sprinkled 2 cups of crushed animal crackers over that, drizzled one 14 oz can of condensed milk over that, then 2 cups of chocolate chips, 2 cups of rice krispies, and then one cup of chopped walnuts. I pressed it all down with my hands and then baked it for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
When it cooled, my kids and my daughter’s BFF ate half the pan before I cut them off-lol! Just thought I’d give you an idea for a new treat…
Also, totally with you when it comes to pajama-wearing. Went out and set up the sprinkler in my nightgown the other day. Glad to hear that I’m in good company!
If you’re enjoying your summer, that’s a great thing. When the mood strikes to blog, blog. When it doesn’t, that’s A-OK!
my inner slacker is the reason it took me this long to read and comment on your blog – which is one of my favorites in the whole wide web.
there is so much i relate to in this post but i really feel like trying to beat Chess Master and maybe edit some photos, we’ll see where the night takes me.
as for pajamas as a fashion statement: that is a great idea!!! i’d like to see those super skinny runway models try to pull off old navy wide leg yoga pants and tank top as good as we do!
Darling, last I checked, blogging doesn’t require clothes at all. I’ll imagine you in the finest Chanel even if you’re chilling in ratty flannel. Oh, and any post that involves sugar cookies is a great way to come back. Welcome back, Mrs. Bear.
Hopped on over here from Casey’s blog. Welcome back to your bloggie groove!!
Goodness knows I’ve taken a bloggy break several times. And summer can be counterproductive for sure. I say just enjoy chillin’ and come back refreshed.
Come back when you can and write what you want.
Don’t be hard on yourself either. And stay off that bike.
Hey – if you’re baking sugar cookies, you’re no slacker! My kids will tell you that. I’m glad you’re having a nice summer. You deserve it. Come back when you feel like it. I’ll be waiting. . .
I just got back from Boston. I got a t shirt at Quincy Market that reminds me of the picture above. It’s the same stick figures from the “Life is Good” shirts, but it says “Life is Crap”, and has a guy smashing into a tree after he fell off his bike. Now I wish I had gotten you one, too!
Well, you’re care for and loved. Take your time…I don’t think any of us is going anywhere. Have you seen the comments???
You missed us! Aww. Give it another week. Soon that bicycle will look like Hugh Jackman and instead of growing hives you’ll be…oops, I won’t go there. Note to self: this is not a Danielle Steel novel Mrs. Mullet.
I totally agree with you! I always think I should write, then I don’t think I’m funny enough. And then when I do write something, we’re lucky to get one stinkin’ comment! Or we do the things that link to the other sites, just so we get more traffic, but then we’re so busy trying to think up something for that thing, that we don’t think up something original. Sometimes I really think, “why bother, will anyone actually care?”, and other times I love to have the blog. I think it’s like that with everything…sometimes it’s just another thing you have to do on that long “Mommy To Do List”.
Oh, now THAT”S a cute post, lol!

And, btw, it sounds like you’re ready for another one!
